華陽(yáng)湖濕地公園在2013年11月份承辦了中華龍舟大賽總決賽，讓麻涌在珠三角乃至全國小有名氣。華陽(yáng)濕地片區占地16平方公里，濕地公園總規劃用地約2平方公里，以華陽(yáng)湖為中心多條河流匯積，生態(tài)自然環(huán)境優(yōu)美。華陽(yáng)濕地片區還將通過(guò)16公里長(cháng)的水上生態(tài)綠道連接華陽(yáng)、新基、麻二等9個(gè)村，依托河涌、祠堂、涼棚、古村落、龍舟、麻涌八景等自然和人文資源。
規劃建設麻二名村、民國風(fēng)情街、華陽(yáng)風(fēng)情水岸、新基特色村落、文化特色餐飲街，將華陽(yáng)濕地片區打造成生態(tài)旅游圈，發(fā)展生態(tài)旅游產(chǎn)業(yè)。華陽(yáng)湖濕地公園位于擁有“游泳之鄉”、“曲藝之鄉”、“龍舟之鄉”美譽(yù)的麻涌鎮，是著(zhù)名的嶺南水鄉。麻涌龍舟競賽在東莞久負盛名，每年農歷五月十六日為麻涌龍舟大景。
